Born in the United Kingdom.
Lives & works in London.
I’m interested in how places inform us, and how we inform places. Through painting and sculpture, I attempt to reconfigure everyday objects and spaces, rendering the once familiar, unfamiliar. In doing so, I hope to create a margin that allows the viewer to re-encounter sets of ideas and presumptions in a new way.
I look at my relationship with public and private spaces, and explore the complexities of identity and my Chinese-Irish heritage. I try to translate and decode recognisable symbols and states into a tangible sensibility or mood within the work.
My most recent body of work explores how a sense of presence and agency can be created. “Unfolded” (2024) is a work that probes the concept of constructed personhood, combining found, everyday objects with constructed latex body parts.
